Basics

NAME: Thranduil AGE: ~7000 years NATIONALITY: Sindarin RACE: Elf OCCUPATION: Rifter TITLE/RANK: Head of the Research Division	HEIGHT: 6'6" BUILD: Fit, muscular without being bulky. HAIR: White blonde EYES: Pale grey SKIN: Fair BEARING: Shoulders back, confident. Startlingly not a Theodosian elf. As of assuming leadership of Research, prefers unassuming clothes and little ornamentation.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: He's tall, and has a faint aura/glow about him. Clearly not a Theodosian elf, there's a shard in his left hand. Wears two rings on his right hand, a gold serpent and a white gem set in silver branches, and two on his left, delicately twining blooming branches in silver, and a black whalebone ring.

Status

Found most often in the office of the Research Division, for which he holds frequent open house hours, or in the library, doing his work in a more visible area. Used to keep rooms in the Hightown estate of Mlle. Gwenaëlle Baudin, nee Vauquelin, before her elven parentage became common knowledge and her grandfather took over the estate.

Reputation

One of the longest-present Rifters, Thranduil is most likely to be known for being the Head of Research in Kirkwall. He is much subdued compared to the Thranduil of those early months (and to those familiar with his canon!) and aware of how his actions reflect on both other elves and other Rifters.

He has made it a point to other members of his division that his office is always open, or at the very least, he makes himself available. There is usually wine or tea offered to those who take advantage. New members of the division will be invited in for a little chat, during which their interests and goals will be discussed.

He is mild-mannered, warm (to a degree), and attentive, though not without his quirks. He can frequently be seen with several of the Dalish members of the Inquisition, as well as the elves.

There is a large tapestry in his office with the heraldry of the Inquisition done in branching leaves and vines, and his clothes, while simple (tunics, leggings, some fur and embroidery here and there) are clearly 'elf-y'.

Frequently in the company of  Gwenaëlle Baudin and Iorveth, though decidedly more physically affectionate with the former.

Hooks

• Love elves. Are you an elf? Come talk to him. There was a point in the game where he had meaningful CR with all the elves in the game and I am determined to return to those glory days.
• Is in the process of converting to Andrastianism. Come grill him about his knowledge of the Chant.

This is a general summary of widely available information about his history in the Inquisition, including missions he took part in and other major events.

20 Drakonis, Thranduil arrived in Thedas alongside his son. All three Rifters were escorted by Solas to Skyhold. Galadriel, another elf from Middle Earth, was being held in confinement for potentially being dangerous despite having done nothing more than refuse to swear an oath of loyalty to the Inquisition. Thranduil and others petitioned Seeker Cassandra Pentaghast for her release. A partial compromise was reached—Galadriel would be allowed out of jail, but only with an escort of armed Templar guards.

8 Bloomingtide, Thranduil hosts an archery contest with a decent purse as the prize.

15 Bloomingtide, Thranduil visits the Western Approach. He, alongside Sherlock, Katniss, and Jamie stumble upon some Chantry Trail Signs, and an unusual cave at the end of that trail.19 August, a new tree grows overnight in Halamshiral’s low quarter. For those able to recognize such things, it is clearly and indisputably a Mallorn tree, though oddly resonant with Theodosian magic.

15 Kingsway, Thranduil is involved in the arrest of Grand Duchess Florianne, at a spa. There are persistent rumors that he is the elven lover of Cassandra Pentaghast following the incident. (They have somewhat relaxed with time.)

Late Kingsway, while traveling with a group intending to receive some information from Comte Vauquelin, an Inquisition ally, he is injured in an ambush by Dalish elves and spends two weeks recovering at said noble’s estate.

5 Harvestmere, visits an Elvhen ruin in the Dales under the leadership of Ellana Ashara.

7-11 Harvestmere, helps Morrigan and Merrill retrieve an item of importance for the Inquisition in Kirkwall.

Mid Harvestmere, helps Cassandra Pentaghast investigate Vinmark Chasm.

15 Haring, leaves for the Hinterlands abruptly with Cassandra Pentaghast on Inquisition business, does not return until shortly before the events of the Winter Palace.

15 Wintermarch, is present at the events of the Winter Palace.

14 Justinian, travels to the Forbidden Oasis to investigate an Elvhen temple. Several artifacts are recovered, and the temple does not fall into Venatori hands.

Early August, travels into the Korcari Wilds alongside Morrigan.

10 Harvestmere, appointed as head of the Research Division.

29 Harvestmere, attends the party sponsored by the Division Heads to promote understanding with the people of Kirkwall.
